GMAT Verbal


GMAT Verbal Section is designed to test candidates knowledge and skill about the English language. This section comprises of mainly three subsections Critical Reasoning, Sentence Correction and Reading Comprehension. To attempt 41 questions, 75 minutes is allocated to the test aspirants. In this section, the score is ranged from 0 to 60, while the total score is marked on a scale from 200-800. The total GMAT score obtained is the average score of total quant and verbal score.With the new Scoreselect Option, candidate can attempt the GMAT Verbal section in any of the following synchronization:

  • Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA), Integrated Reasoning (IR), Quantitative, Verbal (original order);
  • Verbal, Quantitative, Integrated Reasoning, Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA); or
  • Quantitative, Verbal, Integrated Reasoning (IR), Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA).

What is critical about GMAT Critical Reasoning?

GMAT Critical Reasoning critically evaluates the logics involved in making and analyzing arguments and the outlining the action plans. This section consists of approximately 12 questions and they are tricky and needed to be careful to avoid red herrings. The Structure of a CR QuestionGMAT Critical Reasoning questions are structured on these three parameters:

Argument This is a two to five sentence paragraph that explains the argument.
Question Could be of different types and ask you to strengthen or weaken the argument, evaluate it, draw a conclusion, or recognize its structure.
Answer Choices Multiple choice answers are available, out of five answer options, you have to opt the best relevant answer which strengthen or weaken the authors inference.

GMAT Sentence Correction:

Take Up the Challenge GMAT Sentence Correction is considered to be a challenging section in the test. This section tests you on the set of grammar rules. A simple sentence is presented, with part or all of it underlined. The sentence might be right or wrong. Therefore, it is important to eliminate the wrong option than to choose the right answer.   • Parallelism
  • Verb Tense

Reading Comprehension:

A quick read, There are at least 3 passages given in GMAT verbal section and need to answer the questions within the scope of the same. These passages may contain four to five paragraphs and followed with three to four questions from each paragraph. Indeed, it is a tedious task and have to comply within a specified time. Remember, there is no correlation between the length of the passage and its difficulty level. The objective here is to understand the context of the passage, extract the relevant information and answer the questions listed below. GMAT test is full of surprises, no one can assume any topic prior to the test and practice accordingly.
