Founded as the Tokyo Vocational School in 1881 by the government of Japan, the Tokyo Institute of Technology is Japan’s national research university. Admission Requirements 

The Tokyo Institute of Technology has the strictest entry requirements for admission compared to universities globally. Only 1 out of 10 applicants are accepted to the school. Find the admission requirements explained below. 

  • Entrance Exam: All applicants must pass an entrance exam as a part of the admission process. This is a very distinct yet challenging requirement for prospective students and increases the burden and responsibility of preparation.
  • Standardised Test Scores: Apart from cracking the university entrance exam, an applicant must also present the scores of standardised exams such as GRE, GMAT, SAT, or ACT. 
  • English Language Proficiency: All international applicants must submit their English proficiency scores in any standard English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, etc. 

Along with the requirements mentioned above, applicants need to fulfill some other requirements. These include presenting a Statement of Purpose that reflects their reasons to undertake the selected program as well as future career plans. Students will also require a resume that lists all their academic and professional endeavours as well as certificates, awards and recognition, if any. Letters of recommendation are also a mandatory requirement.
