Interviews can be intimidating, especially if it is your first interview for tech giants such as Deloitte, Infosys, Facebook, Google and more. The stress of not knowing what interview questions the interviewers will ask is the main cause of the anxiety among the applicants. However, with proper preparation and practice, you can also improve your chances of getting selected. Having an idea of the commonly asked questions is the best way to prepare for the interview. It is also important to understand the different rounds in an interview so that you can plan each of the rounds beforehand.

Rounds in a Company Interview

Job interviews serve two purposes — helping the employer decide if you are a good fit for the firm and whether your goals and values match the company’s values. To determine this, most the companies conduct their interviews in three rounds:

  1. Written/Aptitude Test – Written test is the first round in most of the company hiring processes. The round is often considered a screening round to check your basic knowledge about the area of the work you’ve applied for. Mostly, the screening test includes questions from Quantitative Aptitude, English Proficiency, Technical Written Test, and Verbal Reasoning. 

For example, some of the written aptitude interview questions could include: 

  • RQP, ONM, _, IHG, FED, find the missing letters?
  • He was very tired as he is working since 6 o’clock in the morning.
  1. Technical Interview Round – Candidates who clear the screening test are later called for a face-to-face technical interview round. In this round, your technical knowledge will be tested and questions will be asked based on the position that you have applied for. This could include questions related to Java, HTML, Data structure, etc.

For example, here are some technical interview questions:

  • What is NAT?
  • What is the tunnel mode of networking, etc? 
  • What is the difference between the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), Java Development Kit (JDK), and Java Virtual Machine (JVM)?

Companies may or may not conduct a managerial round to recheck that you have the skills that are required to work in the specific job you’ve applied for. Questions asked in this round could include; 

  • How would you deal with the criticism from your manager?
  • How will you simplify a difficult task given to you?
  • How will you handle a task that is outside your comfort?

Either way, your chances of getting selected are comparatively high if you clear the technical round. 

  1. Hr Interview Round – In this last round of the interview process, interviewers mainly test your communication, confidence, and other soft skills. You may also have a discussion regarding your salary expectations in this round. 

For example, some HR round interview questions could include:

  • What do you know about this company?
  • What are your salary expectations?
  • Explain, what are your long-term career goals?
