The Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, or IIM Shillong or IIM-S, is an autonomous business institute established in 2007. IIM Shillong Eligibility Criteria 

If you are planning to get into a business graduate course in IIM Shillong, there are some criteria that you need to fulfill. Let’s take a look at those IIM Shillong selection criteria 2021.

  • You must take the GMAT/CAT exam and score the minimum cutoff by the institute to be eligible for admission.
  • If you are in the final year of your bachelor’s degree or are awaiting results, you are eligible to apply for a course in IIM Shillong. However, in such a case, you are required to produce a written proof from the higher authorities of your university to clarify the same.
  • Once you are granted admission, it is mandatory to submit your graduation score report. The inability to provide this information leads to the cancellation of your candidature. 
  • If your graduation scores are reported in the form of CGPAs or grades, your eligibility will be determined based on the equivalent marks given by your college/university.
IIM MBA Eligibility
A Bachelor’s degree with an aggregate of 50% or equivalent CGPA.
IIM PGPX Eligibility
An undergraduate degree in any subject for PGPX. However, if you belong to the SC/ST/PwD category, the aggregate is relaxed to 45%.
Eligibility for PGPM
The eligibility criteria for candidates applying for PGPM is at least 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA in their Bachelor’s degree.
Eligibility for FPM
Candidates applying for the FPM course must have a Master’s degree or its equivalent with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks for General category, 55% (Engineering candidates) or 50% (non-engineering candidates) or an equivalent CGPA. A bachelor’s degree with minimum 60% marks for General candidates, 55% (Engineering candidates) or 50% (non-engineering candidates) or an equivalent CGPA. Any professional qualifications such as CA/ICWA/ICAI and CS with a minimum 55% aggregate marks.

Admission Procedure 

The IIM admissions are generally a four-step process. As we mentioned earlier, you need to clear the GMAT or CAT exam to be eligible for admissions to IIM. This is the first step in the IIM Shillong admission process. You won’t be considered for the further stages of admission if you fail to achieve the minimum IIM Shillong cut off. The next step is shortlisting the candidates, which is done by considering the scores you’ve secured in the entrance examination. The admission committee also looks at your academic record and personal information in this stage. However, a good GMAT/CAT score is not sufficient to land you a spot in your dream b-school. Once you are shortlisted by IIM- Shillong based on the entrance test marks, the next step is for you to take the Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) or Personal Interview (PI). You’ll be notified only if you are shortlisted at this stage. The final selection is done based on— CAT/GMAT score, Writing Ability Test score, Personal Interview score, past academic performance, etc. 

IIM-S Final Placements and Job Opportunities

The placements of the class of 2021 saw an exceptional response from the industry. An average CTC of 19.17 LPA and an average of 26.67 LPA for the top 20% of the class was offered to the graduates of IIM-S. Consulting and Strategy and Sales & Marketing came across as the highest paying domains followed by Finance, General Management and IT & Analytics. The most prominent recruiters were Amazon, Capgemini, Adobe and ICICI Bank among others.

The candidates applying for admission to IIM Shillong must have at least 50% of marks or an equivalent CGPA in their Bachelor’s degree. The overall qualifying score for CAT is around 80 percentile and the overall percentile requirement is around 94 percentile.

IIM Shillong offers several MBA programs for both working professionals and full-time students to help enhance their managerial skills.
