GMAT Exam

The GMAT has four sections and is timed at 3 hours and 7 minutes. The GMAT has a score range of 200 to 800, 200 being the lowest and 800 being the highest you can secure on the GMAT. Using a computer-adaptive algorithm, the GMAT adapts the difficulty level of the questions based on the way you answered the previous question. When you answer a question correctly, the GMAT presents a question of higher difficulty in the next and when you answer a question incorrectly, then it presents a question of lower difficulty.

Let us now take a deeper look into each of the sections of the GMAT so you’re better aware of what the test comprises and what these GMAT coaching institutes in Chandigarh will focus on when training you. The table below provides a clear explanation of each section of the GMAT with their individual score ranges and time duration.

Sections Duration  Score
Analytical Writing Assessment 30 minutes 0-6
Integrated Reasoning 30 minutes 1-8
Quantitative Reasoning 60 minutes 2-51
Verbal Reasoning 60 minutes 2-51

While the analytical writing assessment section of the GMAT tests your ability to write analytically and evaluate the argument presented to you, the integrated reasoning section, on the other hand, requires you to evaluate the data being presented to you in the form of charts or graphs. However, the major chunk of the GMAT comprises the quant and verbal section, which test your problem-solving, logical reasoning and critical thinking skills through Mathematics and English language concepts, respectively.

Also, an advantage in the GMAT exam is that you can choose to answer the sections in whichever sequence you are comfortable in. However, you are provided with three choices and they are as mentioned below.

  • Quantitative, verbal, integrated reasoning, analytical writing
  • Analytical writing, integrated reasoning, quant and verbal
  • Verbal, quantitative, integrated reasoning, analytical writing

To sum up, the GMAT has a lengthy syllabus but with the right study plan and dedication, you can overcome the challenges of preparing for the GMAT. However, a good coaching institute plays an important role in helping you achieve your goals.
